Westival Commissions Touching Mural

Mural 7300

In early 2021 Aviva held its annual awards ceremony for the Aviva Broker Community Fund, where thirty donations from a pot of €100,000 were given away to charities and community organisations across the country, as nominated by brokers.

Hastings Insurance was proud to have nominated Westival, Westport’s Music and Arts Festival in the Community Organisation category. While Westival did not scoop the top prize, it was shortlisted and won a runners-up prize of €5,000 for which both Westival and Hastings Insurance were delighted.

Earlier this month we were absolutely thrilled to be invited by Mickey Carney Principal of St. Brendan’s National School, Kilmeena, to the launch of their new school mural (as seen pictured). It has been a pleasure for us to follow Westivals journey having first nominated the organization in 2021 to finally seeing their prize funding spent in the heart of this community on such a special piece of art. This mural is a fantastic representation of what Kilmeena means to the children of this local community. The mural itself was created by Sorcha O’Higgins a very talented artist based in Co. Mayo. Sorcha worked with the children of St Brendan’s and made their vision come to life.

It is with great thanks to Aviva Broker Community Fund and the amazing team behind Westival Music and Arts Festival, Willie Walsh & Eugene Dowd that opportunities like these can be brought to life and we were delighted to be able play a small part in it.
